Afghanistan is ranked the worst place in the world to be a woman. No matter how loud their screams were, how badly their bodies suffered, their cries for help have gone unheard. Not anymore. We bring to light the plight of Afghan women by getting them to weave their stories of violence into Afghan rugs.
Not a problem to be swept under...
The rugs will feature intricate images of different forms of violence using a crafty mix of age-old designs and patterns. These rugs will then be displayed at the UN Women convention, accompanied with accounts of personal stories of the rug-weavers. Maybe for once, it won’t be another problem that the world sweeps under the rug.
